The Sacred and Creative function within ELC, exists to promote a greater awareness and appreciation of the spiritual dimensions of life.
We hold an Artist-in-Residence program each year, and some other creative workshops and retreats. We also run a regular Poets’ Corner on the fourth Monday of every odd month. We were proud to celebrate the tenth anniversary of Poets’ Corner on 8th April 2013.
A special Poets’ Corner event was held on 25 May to launch a collection of poems called On the Wire – honouring John Pfitzner.
Our Artist-in-Residence for 2015 was accomplished South Australian artist Allan Sumner. The program ran from 12-19 April 2015. It was called Dreaming Spirit – Music, Storytelling and Art and was a great success. Allan is a descendant of 3 Aboriginal peoples (Ngarrindjeri, Kaurna and Yankunytjatjara people). He is passionate about his culture and people, particularly in learning about the stories that have been passed down the generations through his elders. His art has been exhibited across South Australia and also in Canada. Allan mainly paints acrylics on canvas, although his art has been found on boomerangs, didgeridoos and emu eggs. As well as being a visual artist, Allan is a singer, songwriter, musician, producer and storyteller.
