Season of a New Heart

Copies of the eagerly awaited Poets Corner Anthology, Season of a New Heart are now available through our office on 8271 0329 at $20, plus postage. Says, Stephanie Dowrick, “This book offers an abundance of fine examples of pausing with a poets mind and rising, re-awakened and refreshed.” A great gift!

Poems and prayers from the heart

Dorothy McKay is courageously living with secondary cancer.  It has been a long and difficult experience yet correspondingly, she has grown deeply in soul and spirit. Dorothy has published a collection of original poems; Wanting to Soar Like the Eagles, Upheld by Grace.  Akin to a conversation with the reader, it is a remarkably honest accessible offering of feeling, prayer and lived experience. Dorothy’s simple hope is that the poems will help provide others living with life-threatening cancer with someone to ‘talk’ with on the journey:

ELC’s admiration and deep belief in Dorothy’s collection moved us to order a reprint. They are available at the ELC office for $15 (postage $5). They are selling fast!

Be a Friend of ELC
Since its inception our Friends of ELC have numbered over 80.  Some have passed on or fallen by the wayside.  Today, there are 60 Friends, but this does not provide enough financial support to meet all our commitments.  I have a dream that in 2010 we will top all previous records by recruiting a total of 100 Friends. We can only achieve this if all our 2009 Friends renew their support and they all bring others into the fold.

If you support the work of the Centre, please become a Friend. It is one of the few things that have not gone up in price, just $30 for an individual or $40 for a family. Your support will make such a difference to our bottom line and enable us to do even more.

The Effective Living Centre
ELC believes people learn throughout life and that there is a great diversity and richness between citizens. It is essential to respect the integrity and value of each individual and communal grouping.

Programs can be roughly grouped under the headings of Relationships, Social Issues, Sacred and Creative.
We have good office and meeting facilities and seek opportunities to work cooperatively with other groups on innovative projects.
The Effective Living Centre (ELC) is a pivotal part of the outreach program of Christ Church Uniting Church in Wayville. The Centre seeks to help people enjoy a full and purposeful life. Many programs are educational and all respect clients belief systems and personal values regardless of social, political or spiritual stance.
