The Centre was opened by the Mayor of Unley in March 1998 with a vision to contribute positively to the whole community. We seek to share certain insights, yet learn from others in the process. All our programs and events are offered in a conscious spirit of hospitality, inclusion and respect.

The Management Committee of ELC is structured to invite a breadth and diversity of membership who actively share the values of the organisation.

Funding
Funding for the Centre has come from a variety of sources over the years, including: Synod of the Uniting Church SA, City of Unley, The Premier’s Fund, Community Benefits SA, National Australia Bank. Private citizens also help financially by joining ‘Friends of the Effective Living Centre’, contributing annually. Friends of ELC receive a discount at all our programs and events.
